You have blogged 9 weeks so far! I want to know how blogging has helped you in our classroom. What have you learned from blogging week to week. What skills do you think you have gained? Do you like blogging or dislike it? Explain. Your response should be 6-10 sentences.
One of the skills you will be required to use in 4th grade is using multiple sources to help you answer a question or write a summary. I have three sources I would like you to use to write a summary about game based learning. First, watch the video below about game based learning. Next, watch the news story about gaming in school. Finally, click the link button below. Read about a 3rd grader who thinks games are the answer. While you are viewing each source be sure you are taking notes so you can write a summary. Your summary should explain what game based learning is and why it is important.
Click the link below to watch a short video about comparing fractions with unlike denominators in a word problem. Once you have finished watching the video complete the problem. Check out my example before you complete your own problem. ExampleSpencer bought 7/9 of the items on his shopping list yesterday. Charles bought 4/5 of the items on his shopping list. Who bought a greater fraction of the items on his shopping list? Explain your thinking. sample answer: multiples of 9- 9,18,27,36,45 multiples of 5- 5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45 5/5 x 7/9 = 35/45 9/9 x 4/5 = 36/45 35/45 < 36/45 or 7/9 < 4/5 Charles bought more on his shopping list. 4/5 is greater than 7/9 because when I found equivalent fractions with the least common multiple of 45, I know 36 is bigger than 35. This proves Charles bought more on his list. Your turn!Jack and Tom had the same amount of cookies to sell. Jack sold out 7/10 of the cookies and Tom sold out 9/14 of the cookies. Who sold out the greater fraction of cookies?
